The Tarot – Card Trick Or Tool For Life?

From time to time we all look for guidance, whether from friends, relatives or professionals. There are many people who use the Tarot cards as a tool for self-help and benefit from the insights they are given. However, there are just as many people who dismiss the deck as a card-trick, with no more relevance than pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Knowing a bit more about how the cards work can help you decide whether they are for you or not.

You are in the Cards

Rather than looking at the cards as a direct-line to some mysterious, unseen force, it is better to look upon them as a link to the deeper reaches of your subconscious. In essence: you are in the cards. The cards are split into two groups: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana deals with the grand themes of our lives, such as our hopes, dreams, the dramas we encounter and important events. The Minor Arcana focuses on aspects of our personality and contextualises the sweeping statements made by the Major cards; it helps us to apply universal themes to the personal stories of our lives.

Your life in Pictures

Each of the cards in a Tarot deck has a picture. Each of these pictures is associated with a story that represents some aspect of our lives. Your subconscious will identify with particular cards, according to your state of mind and the events that are taking place in your life. The stories represented by each card are not always easy to apply to our feelings or situation, so this is where the reader comes in. A reader uses his intuition and his knowledge of you and your personal life to discern the meanings given up by the cards and make them applicable to your life. More often than not, you will gain insight into the things that are preventing you from achieving your goals; often, these are obstacles we place in our own paths.

A Tarot Card Reading is not a magic trick. Instead, it is simply a way of explaining those aspects of our lives that we cannot understand on a physical level.
