Thanks goodness for February!
There’s no two ways about it, January is miserable. No matter how many things you arrange to do or how many people you see in a bid to cheer it up, there is always an air of gloom about it. And sorry to sound like the voice of doom, but I think you’ll agree that this January has to be one of the worst to date.
A spate of redundancies and sad headlines were only boosted by the arrival of thick snow (well, if you liked it as much as I did!) and the widespread excitement about Barack Obama being sworn in. Apart from that it seemed to be one bit of bad news after another.
I, for one, am glad that January is well and truly behind us. And although it’s still pretty chilly outside, there’s a definite hint of spring in the air. I’ve noticed that people are feeling more positive generally now that the sun is poking through the clouds on an almost daily basis and I’m even tempted to start sorting out my summer wardrobe in anticipation of all those long summer days, which are mere months away.
I may be jumping the gun slightly, but there’s nothing wrong with looking ahead. Just the thought of barbecues and picnics in the park is enough to perk me up as we endure the last days of winter!
