Now scientists have discovered another added bonus: it increases the size of your brain too!
Researchers have learned that certain areas in the brains of people who’ve been meditating long-term were larger than those who hadn’t, particularly the regions which are known to regulate our emotions.
‘We know that people who consistently meditate have a singular ability to cultivate positive emotions, retain emotional stability and engage in mindful behaviour’ says Eileen Luders, lead author of the report and a postdoctoral research fellow at the UCLA Laboratory of Neuro Imaging.
