Love is the drug

Doctors recently confirmed something we’d suspected all along – love is good for us!

Coming just in time for the romance-fest that is Valentine’s Day, findings reported in the British Medical Journal revealed a loving relationship can actually help you live longer. In fact, according to researchers from Cardiff University, people in a happy, long-term relationship reduce their risk of an early death by 15 percent.
Collating findings from seven European countries, the study also discovered that love improves men’s physical wellbeing and women’s emotional health. Says the study’s co-author, John Gallacher, “The physical health premium for men is likely to be caused by their partner’s positive influence on lifestyle. The mental health bonus for women may be due to a greater emphasis on the importance of the relationship.”

And since we already know that being in love releases oxytocin, a hormone which protects against heart disease and stress, now there’s every excuse to come over all soppy this Feburary 14th!

Not having a loved one? Why not try a love tarot today?
