Traditional Healers And Science Join Forces

Going on holiday can often be ruined by mosquitoes, flying around and taking a bite out of us leaving us covered in red, sore bites.

However an article on IOL News online shows that traditional healing methods could be the way forward.

There are plenty of so called mosquito repellents full of chemicals that you can spend a lot of money on in the hope they might work, but scientists from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have discovered a completely natural way to repel them.

The CSIR have discovered that candles containing an essential oil from the plant Lippia Javanica will naturally repel the insects.

In South Africa, the branches of the plant are snapped off and wiped on the skin, burned on a fire or hung on the walls around beds to help repel the deadly mosquitoes.
