Sixth Sense - it really is all in the mind!

If you've ever felt you share a sixth sense with your other half, new research from Sydney's University of Technology has proved you right.

By monitoring people's brain patterns, scientists discovered that couples' nervous systems do indeed start to work on the same frequency over time, helping them anticipate the other's thoughts and feelings.

That means there's a very real physiological alignment behind the belief that you can read each other's minds. In fact, some couples become so attuned to each other that they don't even need to be in physical contact to sense what the other is thinking.

So if you're forever finishing your partner's sentences or guessing their thoughts just by looking at them, now there's a scientific explanation.

According to Trisha Stratford, the researcher in charge of the study, "When couples reach an altered state, they can read each other's brains and bodies at a deeper level - a sixth sense."
