Web Call FAQs
1. What is Kooma Web Call?
Kooma Web Call is the latest way for our customers to connect with our network of talented spiritual Readers. This technology allows you to use your home broadband connection and a PC Headset to make a phone call through the internet. This is sometimes referred to as "VOIP" or "Web phone" technology. Please note that you cannot use a simple headset to have a reading, and that it needs to have a microphone so you can communicate with your chosen reader.
If you have ever used Skype or MSN Messenger to make phone calls from your computer, the principle is exactly the same.
2. Why would I use Web Call instead of a normal phone call?
For our customers who are always on the net and used to making internet calls, Web Call will be a welcome addition to the Kooma service. That being said, there are benefits to Web Call that everyone can enjoy:
It Costs Less: Because we don't incur the same costs with internet calls as we do landline or mobile phone calls, we have passed these savings on to our customers. On average, Web Call sessions are 15% less expensive than regular credit card and premium rate calls from your mobile or landline phone.
It's Cheaper From Abroad: The internet costs the same no matter where you use it from. So, whether you are next door at a friend's home or in a hotel room in Japan*, you can use Web Call without costing your host any money. You'll simply be using their internet connection.
*Please Note: Web Call will only be available from within the UK during the Trial period.
3. What's the call quality like on Web Call sessions?
Excellent! In fact, we think it's even better than most mobile phones (and doesn't use up any of your Call Plan minutes!). However if you experience any problems during your call, please contact our helpdesk on 0844 944 3044.
4. What do I need to use it?
You'll need the following 4 things to make a Web Call:
- A "My Kooma" Account. Get yours here
- A Broadband internet connection (to access the Kooma website)
- A PC Headset (like
these).
- Your credit or debit card
5. I already have a phone credit card account. Why do I need to create a separate one for Web Call?
We're working hard to merge our phone credit card service with our web credit card registration. However, for now, you'll need to have 2 accounts with us if you'd like to use your credit or debit card to pay for both phone readings and Web Call readings.
We'll be adding a PayPal and other payment options to Web Call soon, which should be very useful to many of our customers with a PayPal account.
6. What is a PC headset and how can I get one?
A PC headset is the type of thing you see customer service agents wearing in call centres. It's simply a microphone and an ear piece that plugs into your PC. Sometimes they plug into your PC using the USB port and sometimes they plug into those little red and green round microphone and speaker ports that you'll normally find on the left or right hand side of a laptop, or on the back of a PC. You can purchase one at any high street computer or electronics shop for under £10 and they work pretty much straight out of the box.
If you have an external microphone and speaker set-up, that will also work fine.
