Despite global food shortages, war, global warming and the like, a new study has revealed that the world is actually a happier place than 20 years ago.
According to a survey of global wellbeing conducted by the University of Michigan, Denmark is currently the most contented nation, thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, democracy and social equality.
Not surprisingly, Zimbabwe was bottom of the 97 countries, with Iraq just seven points behind it.
Britain came 21st, far below the US at number 16. Countries that made it into the top ten include Iceland, Puerto Rica, Canada and Columbia.
The survey asked people two questions:
1. 'Taking all things together, would you say you are very happy, rather happy, not very happy, or not at all happy?'
2. 'All things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole these days?'
A similar study was carried out 20 years ago, and researchers say that these days we’re a lot happier as a whole.
