A recent survey conducted by London’s Diagnostic Clinic has revealed that 68 per cent of us Britons consider complementary medicine to be every bit as effective as more conventional cures.
People between 35 and 44 were the most likely to consider complementary medicine to work, while just one in four people believed that Western medicine was the only way to treat illness.
Dr Rajendra Sharma from The Diagnostic Clinic, which blends conventional medical practices with alternative remedies says:
'Orthodox and complementary medicine should not sit on different sides of healthcare provision. Integrated medicine, where fully qualified doctors are also experts in many of the complementary disciplines, should be the healthcare model of the future.'
The popularity of complementary therapies is certainly rising with us lot spending £130 million on them per year.
